Description: The Japan-IMF study abroad scholarships Scheme for Advanced Studies (Japan IMF Scholarship Program for Asia) is a program intended to help Japanese nationals obtaining PhD degrees in macroeconomics and preparing them to work as economists at the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The awards are funded by the Japan government and administered by ICD and IIE.
Japan-IMF Studentship Program information
There are about seven scholarships available on a competitive basis to students with good grades and high academic achievement. To qualify, you need to apply for this scholarship before completion of doctoral studies and acceptance of an EP position.
Japan-IMF Studentship Program Eligibility & Application
The eligibility for this scholarship includes; applicants must be a Japanese citizen who will obtain a PhD at the age of 34. The area of interest must be macroeconomics in a university outside of Japan. To apply, applicants should visit the provider via the www.iie.org/jisp. Also, the application must be completed in the English language with important content including a personal statement. The personal statements must focus on the applicant’s background, career goals, and interest in working as an IMF economist.
Moreover, as part of the application, applicants must attach a complete university transcript, a current GRE and TOEFL or IELTS scores as appropriate, a copy of one application to a PhD program; and two reference letters.
Japan-IMF Studentship Program value
The value of the scholarship includes but not limited to: full university tuition and fees; annual book allowance, medical insurance; monthly living allowance; some travel expenses; and a summer internship (paid).
This scholarship is highly competitive and highly recommended for prospective applicants. The award is for only full time.
